Walmart, Netflix, and Best Buy essentially put the final nail in the coffin for HDDVD. Now the last flag flyer for the format has quit. Toshiba is ceasing production of HDDVD with an announcement expected next week. I am glad to see this format war end, possibly even more than the devise of Circuit City’s Divx debacle. The quicker this ends, the quicker we get greater movies, and classic titles in sweet 1080p goodness. Source

Its to bad that it came down to who could pay off the most studios instead of who was the better format! If all studios had reliesed both formats HDDVD and Blu-ray, and let the consumer pick, the end result would be different. To bad HDDVD, you were the better format with bells and whistles that actually worked! beware Blu-ray owners, depending on which player you purchased you may not be able to watch newer releses on your preseous flawed players. Blu-ray was in such a hurry to compete with the better format that it put out any thing to have something out there, buyer beware! The only good that has come of this in my opinion is that I just purchased toshibas A-30 for 130.00 Ill continue to collect my regular DVDs with one hellava upconverter!
